Keith Rarick was a special member and friend of the Brown County Community Band. Keith passed away this week on his 88th birthday on October 18th.
He helped write the band's constitution, served on the board, and was a charter member.
He was born in Elgin, Illinois, but from age 2 was raised on a farm north of Muncie, Indiana. He received a B.S. in Education, Mathematics Major, from Ball State in 1935, and graduated from General Motors Institute in 1938. He taught at New Castle High School and retired from Reliance Electric in Columbus, Indiana, after 26 years as Engineering Analyst. He was a registered PE, and was a past president of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers. He was awarded "Engineer of the Year" by the ISPE in 1979. Keith played clarinet in the Brown County Community Band, and also with the Brown County German Band. Keith was also a former member of the Columbus City Band. Keith's wife, Dorothy, preceded him in death in 1986. He is survived by a daughter and three sons.
The band was always very proud of Keith Rarick and will miss him greatly.
